Tech Friends Rendezvous
PyCon Singapore is built on community and lifelong learning. Tech Friends Rendezvous (TFR) is an opt-in space for single attendees who would like to socialise, meet fellow Pythonistas, and see if a learning partnership could grow beyond the conference.
Participation is voluntary, but encouraged. The goal is simple: friendly conversation, respectful connection, and shared curiosity — with clear boundaries, consent, and care for everyone’s comfort.
Join only if you want to. You can step away at any time, and it’s completely fine to just enjoy PyCon the usual way.
Think: friendly introductions, shared interests, and easy conversation starters — not speed-dating.
Some connections start with a talk you both loved, a hallway question, or building an agent together.
How It Works
TFR is designed to be light, friendly, and aligned with PyCon’s community values. Participation is always opt-in and always respectful.
Join the opt-in group and use simple signals (like a sticker or badge, if provided) to indicate you’re happy to meet people.
Look out for short, casual meetups during the conference where introductions are easy and no one is singled out.
The best conversations start with shared curiosity: talks, lightning talks, hallway questions, and workshops like the second brain build.
TFR follows PyCon Singapore’s community standards. If someone isn’t interested, accept it gracefully and move on. No pressure, no persistence.
When two people learn together, the journey becomes lighter and more joyful: celebrating small wins, staying curious through setbacks, and growing as the tech world evolves.
For some, a connection can become a long-term partnership — and for those who want it, a path that may lead to family and parenthood. For others, it becomes friendship, mentorship, and a lifelong learning buddy. Every outcome is valid.
Start with the simplest step: say hello, share what you’re learning, and build something together.
