Python is becoming increasingly popular in the scientific community and it's pretty amazing and smooth for real time analysis. In this talk, I'll tell you how I modified a commercially available EEG (ElectroEncephaloGraphic...human speak: brain waves) headset and found a simple and quick way to analyze the data coming out from it and interpret it using simple Python tools.
Brain waves have always fascinated researchers and for over the past decade, we have been able to read them in real time. The biggest issue has been that it's rather difficult to do the analysis in real time, but now with Python and the abundance of tools, it is possible to read the brain waves and churn out the analysis in a way that we can understand and make sense of it.
In the first part of this talk, I'll talk to you about the hardware and the way it works and eventually I'll tell you what exactly I've done with Python and the various packages that're openly available. The second part of the talk will focus on how Python is actually a great tool to create GUIs (although it's not all that pretty).
